SWPACDC is an alliance of community developers from across Southwestern Pennsylvania, representing community development corporations, financial intermediaries and industry technical assistance providers. The purpose of this regionally focused coalition is to build capacity among community developers and increase their involvement in the development of key state and regional policies that will support their local efforts. 10,000 Friends serves as the project manager and organizer for the alliance.

 

The impacts of population loss and the lack of economic growth in the region have created a series of shared circumstances between urban, rural and suburban communities. Recognizing these challenges, the coalition seeks to meet the needs of the region’s future by encouraging regional progress through increased community participation and increasing the number of viable choices for growth and development.
